Behind Morgan's Happy Moments

Throughout my whole life, I've loved writing and storytelling. Back in May of 2020, I decided to finally put my writing to good use. While grappling with the isolating feelings of the pandemic and trying to navigate my plans for the future, I decided to start a separate Instagram account dedicated to documenting the good things in life that kept me going.

And so, Morgan's Happy Moments was born.

As I've continued to grow this account, I've realized what's most important is not only highlighting the happy, but embracing the bad as well. So no, Morgan's Happy Moments is not always happy. Instead, I see this as a journey of exploring insecurity, embracing the now, and finding happy.

Who I Am

Hi! I'm Morgan, the creator of Morgan's Happy Moments. I'm a recent college graduate and currently learning how to navigate my early twenties. I have a whole lot of things going on in my head, so this website is my outlet for all the good and bad. I consider myself an open book, love to listen to music almost at all times, and am a long-time lover of romcoms. One of my favorite things in life is sharing stories in hopes that maybe they'll help someone else, so here's a small glimpse at some of my life's biggest chapters.

The Journey So Far...

Chapter One.

March 2002

I was born and raised in a suburb outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with my mom, dad, and older brother of two years. I've lived in (basically) the same house my entire life, as long as you don't count the first nine months. Growing up, my parents worked a lot, so many of my afternoons were spent with my amazing grandmother, who luckily lives about 10 minutes down the road. My family has always been a large part of my life and we love to get together for pretty much any sports game or holiday.

Chapter Two.

Growing Up

My childhood was...interesting, to say the least. From my first birthday until my thirteenth, my parents owned various businesses over the years. The very first called "Moonbounce Adventures", where I spent many of childhood birthdays. Over time the businesses grew and evolved, so a lot of my early life was spent playing. Not too shabby of a childhood if you ask me. A majority of my friends consisted of whatever kids came in that day, and no two days were ever the same.

Chapter Four.

2012

Then there was my second love: volleyball. I was the classic coach's daughter trope-learning each day from my dad when I started at age ten up until my final year of high school. I cherish a lot of those memories, especially our long drives to tournaments blasting music and singing along. Over the years we've made a lot of memories, gotten in a lot of reps, and even started coaching together when I got to high school and college. I know one day we'll get to coach my kids together and relive the good times we had on and off the court.

Chapter Three.

2011

I found my first love when I was nine: music. As a kid I always loved to perform shows for my family, and sometimes I would even come to my mom's office and show off to her coworkers. I absorbed the attention like a sponge. When I got to around nine or ten, I started taking private singing lessons with a local instructor, then went on to compete in singing contests for the next few years. Performing has and always will have a big piece of my heart, even though it's been many years since my last time on stage.

Chapter Five.

2020

High school. I can't say it was the best or worst of times, but it was definitely a time. In my sophomore year of high school, I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. There were definitely a lot of low points, but I had a lot of great people who got me through it (you know who you are). Back in May of 2020, I started this blog! Originally it was just a small Instagram account for me and my close friends, but now it's one of my proudest creations. We've definitely come a long way since then.

Chapter Six.

College

In August 2020, I made what would later become the best decision of my life by starting college at the University of South Carolina. Throughout my time at USC, I've learned invaluable life lessons, met some of my favorite people in the whole world, and grown significantly as an individual. Columbia has truly become my home away from home and taught me that I have the ultimate power in creating my own happiness.

Chapter Seven.

Present Day

Now here we are! Over the past twenty three years I've done a lot of living, learning, and loving, but one of the greatest things I've done was create this. Morgan's Happy Moments is not just a little blog or a curated website, it's a part of who I am and the life I've built. I'm so glad to have this outlet to talk about the hard things and share pieces of my soul with each of you. Thank you for being here, and for following along with the journey so far.
